VISION

Recognizing that Technical and Vocational Education and Training produces individual and social benefits encompassing the individual, the economy, and society at large, a high-quality TVET system for BTI will seek to:

Promote the employability of all residents of working age and improve their competencies and qualifications. The institution will positively contribute to the empowerment of individuals in their future careers as they contribute to Somali society in general.

An inclusive TVET system for BTI will provide equal opportunities for all, welcoming marginalized populations, women, youth, minorities and people with disabilities.

Contribute to inclusive and sustainable development, leaving no one behind. The Technical system will promote the principles of good citizenship, democracy and human rights, serving as a place for constructive dialogue between individuals and communities, and fostering social cohesion.

Mission

To implement this vision, the TVET system for Banadir Training Institute (BTI) will be tripartite- led, fit for purpose and inclusive. It will provide competencies and life skills to meet the skills demand in the labour market, forming part of a larger education system with multiple pathways to encourage lifelong learning. While partnering with private organization and companies, it aims and have vast power to educate and provide opportunities to youth in Somalia.

Objectives

Increasing the participation rate in the labour force, and downsizing the dependency ratio. Increasing the participation rate of women in the labour force.

Reducing the unemployment rate with special attention to the unemployment of youth. Regulating and organizing the employment of Somali citizens in the country.

Developing services for the labour force in the informal sector, thus encouraging the rationalization of employment in this sector and encouraging the transfer to the formal sector.
